May I present the first fine-art book my publishing devision has released: Artief.
It's about all artists from an art-collective called Artief.
This is a commissioned book but it's still my first release anyway ;-)
They arrived yesterday and I was very nervous 'cause it was the first time I worked together with this particular printer. I was anticipating problems as we're cursed: it seems that every time we have a new serviceprovider, the first job he does for us always goes wrong!
I had it with the digital printer for my fine-art pictures (more about that in another post) and I really was afraid for this book. That's why we set the deadline for the printer 3 weeks early so they would have time to reprint them if anything would be wrong. It seems we don't need it afterall... Would the curse be broken???
So here is a teaser... just a few spreads. The book is mainly in Dutch (not that there is much text) and costs 30 euro excl shipping.

I've been asked to make an art-book for a befriended artist but not only am I going to photograph/design it, we also are going to publish it completely (in Belgium).
So we started this publishing departement.
What does Mouseion means?
As we only plan to publish books that are art-related, we found it a fitting name ^__^Mouseion is the Greek name of the ‘temple of the muses’. The muses embodied ‘the nine arts’ (sciences and arts) as goddesses.
In whole Greece there were in many cities a Mouseion, but the most famous of all was the ‘Mouseion of Alexandria’ in Egypt. In this ‘temple of muses’ was also a library that became the biggest and the most important one of the Ancient World. It also contained a collection of several objects from that time.
In the Mouseion of Alexandria people were able to study literature (the most important form of study in ancient time), and to follow courses given by several renowned (nature) philosophers.It isn’t difficult to understand that our modern ‘museum’ originates from the ancient ‘mouseion’.

Imagine a house, where every wall consists out of paintings.
"Nuit Blanche" is a "multiplet", containing 72 paintings of 80x80 cm.
Each painting is one of 9 elements of a painting-wall. These walls form the rooms of a house with 72 painted scenes.
The concept of "Nuit Blanche" is combining contradictions, like the title already indicates: White Night. Day & night, white & black, love & death,... these are just a few of the contradictions which are woven through the 72 paintings. Although each painting can perfectly stand alone (except for a few triptychs), they all are pieces of a huge puzzle.
To be released at the end of the year...
